On Sunday, May 18th 2014 St. Tim’s held a Congregational Vote and officially became a Reconciling in Christ Church! You can read more about the designation below and find letters from Pastor Rachael and The RIC Leadership Team – St. Tim’s now officially WELCOMES ALL!
Along with all the fantastic ministries we have and continue to be a part of, we have been called by the Holy Spirit to embrace the process of Reconciling In Christ- publicly welcoming lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender believers. Let us fully explore, live out, and declare our Statement of Purpose to participate in God’s creative, redeeming, and sanctifying activity in the world by reaching out to all people, bringing them to faith in Christ, serving in response to God’s love for us, fulfilling human needs, and bringing justice to all people. In this way, we may work with our Lord and Savior toward peace and reconciliation.
Each of us is entrusted to nurture our fellow congregants with the Word of God, and to grow in hope, faith and love together. In so doing, we bring the glory of our Christian calling to life in the love of Christ, in joining with others in prayer, and through the Spirit in building up the body of Christ.
The Reconciling in Christ roster of Lutheran congregations, synods, college, seminaries and organizations now exceeds 500, including two ELCA churches here in Albuquerque! The leadership at St. Tim’s has entrusted a core team for this endeavor and we invite you to join us on the journey of conversation, participation, and sharing in God’s love.
