Music Ministry

Praise the Lord! Praise him with trumpet sound; praise him with lute and harp! Praise him with tambourine and dance; praise him with strings and pipe! Praise him with clanging cymbals; praise him with loud clashing cymbals! Let everything that breathes praise the Lord! Praise the Lord! (Psalm 150)

About St. Tim’s Music Ministry
Under the leadership of music director Clara Byom , St. Tim’s Music Ministry involves congregants and guest musicians to enhance Sunday worship and special events.  Sunday worship services include a mix of contemporary Christian music and traditional hymns.  Our staff musicians, Issa Noor (percussion) and Hannah Thigpen (vocals), provide music each Sunday.

***Please note that all in-person music activities are cancelled until further notice due to the COVID-19 pandemic. If you are interested in joining us for occasional virtual choir events, please contact Clara.***

Choir – On Sundays from September through May, St. Tim’s outstanding volunteer choir provides music during offering.  If you are interested in joining the choir, please contact Clara at sttimsmusicdirector@gmail.com.  The choir rehearses at 7:15pm on Thursdays.  The choir frequently collaborates with other congregations for special music events.

Sounds of Service Series – Started by Clara in the summer of 2018, this concert series features local and traveling musicians. Each event is sponsored by Thrivent Financial and supports a local charity.  Through this series, Clara aims to introduce our community to a wide variety of music, while supporting artists and charities.  For more information, please contact Clara Byom .

June 2020 – Strength for today and bright hope for tomorrow!
A note from Clara Byom, Music Director

Great is thy faithfulness, O God my Father;
There is no shadow of turning with thee;
Thou changest not, thy compassions they fail not;
As thou hast been, thou forever wilt be.

Great is thy faithfulness! Great is thy faithfulness!
Morning by morning new mercies I see;
All I have needed thy hand hath provided;
Great is thy faithfulness, Lord, unto me.

Hi friends,
As we learn more about the virus, it seems more apparent that music-making together and in-person won’t happen for quite some time. I am so grateful to our incredible staff and congregants who continue to contribute music each week for the digital worship experience. Many, many thanks to Hannah, Issa, the Eickhoffs, and the choir members who contribute music to the digital services. It’s not the most satisfying way to make music, but I am so delighted that we can continue to make music this way during these times. Thank you!

Summer and winter and springtime and harvest,
Sun, moon, and stars in their courses above
Join with all nature in manifold witness
To thy great faithfulness, mercy, and love.

Great is thy faithfulness! Great is thy faithfulness!
Morning by morning new mercies I see;
All I have needed thy hand hath provided;
Great is thy faithfulness, Lord, unto me.

We have a series on creation just around the corner! I am especially excited to receive the sounds of creation from you! Throughout the six weeks, I will be creating soundscapes for prelude and postlude from your submissions. There are bound to be birds chirping, coyotes howling, and babies crying. I also hope to make noisy, loud, industrial soundscapes. I encourage you to sit through them and listen closer than usual for the tiniest details in the sound. Perhaps you want to think of these soundscapes as an auditory scavenger hunt. You never know what you might find! Please send audio files to sttimstories@gmail.com for inclusion in worship! Thank you in advance!

Pardon for sin and a peace that endureth,
Thine own dear presence to cheer and to guide;
Strength for today and bright hope for tomorrow,
Blessings all mine, with ten thousand beside!

Great is thy faithfulness! Great is thy faithfulness!
Morning by morning new mercies I see;
All I have needed thy hand hath provided;
Great is thy faithfulness, Lord, unto me.
