It was an eventful day here at St. Tim’s. Families experiencing homelessness slept here last night and will again tonight as a part of Family Promise. Refugees and asylees came to learn English through the Lutheran Family Services’ (LFS) ESL class. A group of ABQ pastors met to discuss the Bible readings for worship this Sunday. An LFS planning meeting took place to put the finishing touches on the “Newcomer Academy,” a program St. Tim’s will house for the rest of July in which dozens of young refugees will come to learn and grow in community. A man who had lost his way stopped at our doors, and through the love of the St. Tim’s staff alongside our partnership with COAST it was discovered the man had been missing from his family for three days. The COAST team worked to reunite them.
In the midst of it all I hear the words of the Psalm assigned for this Sunday:
The Lord is good to all, and his compassion is over all that he has made…The Lord is faithful in all his words, and gracious in all his deeds. The Lord upholds all who are falling, and raises up all who are bowed down. (145: 9, 13b-14)
The Lord is love to all and for all. God’s compassion is over all – over you, over me, over everyone who enters this building, always. Thanks be to God!
See you Sunday…
